Re: Documentaries

^ I knew a guy who worked on the cool tree house, the one made from round timber by a guy who lived in the forest. (woodsmans cottage) Shame his kid cannot inherit it (unless they've had a change of mind) Just been fascinated by this particular set of documentaries I must have missed when I was 15 -...

Re: BOOK! (Hardcopy edition)

"there is a fucking lot of history" ^ Only Bacon knows everything there is to know - if you look those are practice tests, so I quite like that approach, there is a ton of material, and my first informal run through I got ...

Re: /dev/null

^^ oh yeah no lappy on vacation, unless it's a working holiday (which doesn't happen). at a push I've used my phone, a carpark with 4G, JuiceSSH and my ssh keys setup on it can do basic sysadmin stuff, while the babies sleep and wife shops.

Re: show us your iron

It is a part of the idea, with a desk like that, to be moving around ( relevant XKCD ) at least moving feet around. They make insanely expensive rugged foot mountain pads to be intentionally uncomfortable / hard to stand stock still for any time. Also most of the recommendations seem to be get a bar...

Re: show us your iron

Don't think I'll ever get used to standing desk computing. It's just not within me. I respect your opinion and Ivan's. Just feels good to me. I don't do all day at it. The laptop does the first couple of hours in the morning sitting down at various places. I just wonder would you feel the same abou...

Re: show us your iron

No chair, well no office ass chair...

Re: What are you actually running for daily/primary usage?

I'm just jealous :)
although I frikkin' love my X1 to bits. has not had anything (other than my fuckups) go wrong with it, kids walk on it (with i3lock on) and gets crap spilt on it, works out on the patio, on the bed. runs at a tranquil 0.06 load most of the day.
