Re: At the tobacconist

Necrobumping this one because of my new-found interest in cigars (unfortunately, since they are fucking expensive here). I spent the last two weeks smoking a few mainstream Cubans (Romeo y Julietta, Partagas, Upmann) and a handful of Chinese cigars (yeah, sounds funny but they are actually imported ...

Re: Intro rvijay

Unless you speak Chinese, live in China, or have occasion to use WeeChat on your mobile device, it might not really be worth learning just for the sake of it. Unless you want a permanent record of something being stored by the Chinese government (and by extension the US government via the Patriot A...

Re: [SOLVED (I am so dumb, sometimes)] .Xresources, xrdb, transparency, and keeping them

.Xresources has a typo:

Code: Select all

*trasparency: true
should be

Code: Select all

*transparency: true
and the last line you can write

Code: Select all

#include ".Xresources_colors"

Re: Intro rvijay

Hey hello and welcome to the grill. If you have any questions or need help, let me/us know, best place is the SUPPORT section. I've been away from the BBQ for a while. A few package names have changed or been removed from Debian's unstable repo, the x11-server for example has a new name. Best bet is...

Re: Your connection is not private [solved and doesn't make sense]

^ lol leave him alone :D It seems the problem was here on my side. Once I cleared the cache and re-entered the https link, it started working (btw I don't use www. now in front of the domain name). Thanks anyway, I could figure out where the problem was. I guessed it also had to do with my new route...

Re: Your connection is not private

Absolutely, you do make sense, but the browser's (or whatever) behaviour doesn't. If I enter (type in!) https://linuxbbq.org, I get the error message on any browser I use on my computer (but not in text browsers, and no problem in Android or iOS). If I click on the link https://linuxbbq.org it works...

Your connection is not private [solved and doesn't make sense]

I noticed some strange behaviour in the last weeks. When I visit linuxbbq.org/bbs on Chrome and Safari, I get the error "Your connection is not private Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.linuxbbq.org (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Learn more NET::ERR_C...

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

Any ideas how I can use Evernote to sync my org files? I actually only use two devices to access my *.org files, so Evernote fits the bill: it supports sync between 2 devices in the Free plan, and the upload limit per month is 60MB (we all know that *.org files are just kilobytes in size). Of course...

Re: show us your iron

you can actually use acpi and acpid to assign 'lid close' to pm-suspend. about the other problems (lockups), have a try with intel-microcode from experimental and probably check for an update of your UEFI/BIOS. I'm pretty sure one of the two sides is already fixed upstream, after all the hardware ha...
