I’m ashamed to announce the immediate availability of “370455V 07734″, a BBQ flavour featuring the Cinnamon Desktop Environment. It’s meant to be a sandbox/playground – Cinnamon has just hit Sid, but this spin is stable and surprisingly resource-friendly.
The list of default applications is slightly different:
Cinnamon 1.6.x
muffin WM
Iceweasel (FlashPlayer and Adblock enabled)
Pidgin
Skype 4.1
Deadbeef
GNOME Mplayer
Software Center (uhum, that one! And it rocks!)
Geany
Leafpad
+ the whole Trollinger BBQ and CLI set

Hello,
FYI, I am getting the following error when I attempt to log in.
Failed to load session “cinnamon”
Excited to try Cinnamon out on Sid!
Yay. Well done chef! Tastiest cinnamon yet.
Try it with the “Cinnamon 2D” session in LightDM’s pop-up menu. On certain hardware 3D doesn’t load up without prop. bloatware driver
Awesome! It’s alive!
I think Cinnamon is up to 1.6.6 now. I may look into upgrading it…or just hold my horses instead of trying to pull it in from the Mint repos. Thanks again!
It’s 1.6.7 in Sid and the release, so no need to hold the horses as there are none
Great, thanks!
waiting for amd 64 … damn manjaro just won’t die on my laptop…
file manager – is it caja, nautilus or nemo?
Hi
Manjaro should never die! It’s the standard Nautilus as long as they don’t package Nemo for Sid, it’s pulled in through the GNOME dependencies (else I would have gone PCmanFM). Caja would be a nice idea, to pull it from MATE in the meanwhile. Let’s see for 64
thanks.
I’ll stick with 64-bit trollinger + caja for the network shares.
Probably the new Thunar should/would work well too for shares, though I haven’t extensively tested it yet. Roast your own, anyway
Shame on you grillmaster
Cinnamon is an old friend so lets split the shame.

Oh Irene, I’m even more ashamed that I can’t keep my promise (KDE will come soon)
Suck the cinnamon, babe
A little tip to get icons back on the desktop:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true
PS- I second the notion of a 64-bit bbq! My desktop is on standby…
Thanks Derrick, it might take a while – recently very busy with many, many RL things (this also explains the website redesign to a less ‘inviting’ appearance, simply don’t have time to source the forums and react much) but there might be a 64bit Cinn. coming in the next weeks.
