Thing is I never used Twitter and never understood the concept of it, at least not for my personal use. Cool, and I always thought I'm the only person in the world who has no idea what 'twitter' is about - seriously :) Just wanted to make Manu happy, so there I am. At least there's an emacs fronten...

Re: Openbox

^ cool! What if you check like

Code: Select all

 [ -e /run/openrc/started ]
I suppose (not tested with sysvinit) that only OpenRC writes something there, and clears /run after reboot.

Re: machinebacon

^ ah well, it's getting better and better, of course there are still some rough edges, eg. some processes create zombie buffers, or it's a bit PITA to switch buffers when helm is involved, but else it's really not that bad. OTOH, it's nothing that a tiling WM wouldn't be able to do ;)

Re: machinebacon

^ thanks guys. Totally fell in love with exwm . If you want to build it from ELPA, get xelb and exwm (optionally" exwm-x). For convenience, also grab dmenu from there (it's assigned to M-d and is even more clever than suckless' dmenu, because it knows when to open terminal apps in a terminal). In ~/...

tmux 2.3 (scrot is from experimental) has some nice new features. Now you can make it look like a mix of dvtm and screen :D

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads

sooo.... (edit: removed rant) installed libreboot on the x60 today and it's running fine. steps to reproduce: 1) get libreboot utils and the x60 rom (mirrors: https://libreboot.org/download.html#https) and untar them wget -c https://mirrors.peers.community/mirrors/libreboot/stable/20160907/libreboot...

Re: EDC, gadgets and gear stuff

Okay I move these to the Thinkpad section. Got the X60 today and it's excellent. Only 2GB RAM and a 24GB SSD in it, but it boots straight into Emacs without WM. It does already have an Atheros instead of the Broadcom, and Intel onboard gfx, so I can coreboot or libreboot it tonight. So far, it's a j...

Ridiculous.
Briefly: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=851692

Or start with "--enable-remote-extensions"

Re: Spacemacs - Emacs? Vim? Why not both?

You won't believe it, but I just made a Spacemacs remix on Tuesday which I am test-driving on different PCs before I upload it. * Personally, I am not a big fan of Spacemacs (95% of the things featured I will never use, and those which I regularly use are not featured lol), but I understand why ther...

Re: Emacs tips and tricks

Just a note to self...

To print the output of a command directly to the point (equivalent to :r !command), for example here the output of all UUID devices:

Code: Select all

C-u M-! blkid -o export | grep -w "UUID"
Record a keyboard macro

Code: Select all

C-x (
...do your thing
C-x )
...execute the macro
C-x e
